ABOUT GREG

Putting Experience to Work

Councilor Folley was appointed to the Marco Island City Council on June 1, 2020, and was elected to that position in November of 2020. 

He was elected again for a full, four year term in November 2022. He’s a proud veteran, a distinguished attorney, and a proven global executive and board member.

Prior to his career as an elected official, Greg served in all three branches of the federal government including the White House. He practiced labor and employment law with major firms for over a decade. Then, he went on to successfully lead teams of more than 10,000 employees in 18 countries for iconic companies, including the world’s largest airline, American Airlines and largest manufacturer of mining and construction equipment, Caterpillar, Inc.

During his nine year tenure as a company officer at Caterpillar, Greg served as member of the Chairman’s Operating Council, whose members were responsible for setting the strategy of and running a multibillion-dollar business.

As an attorney, Greg managed outside counsel in labor and employment-related litigation. He oversaw successful resolution to the largest interest arbitration in U.S. airline history. He is admitted to the State Bar Associations of Indiana, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Texas.

Greg currently serves as the Marco Island representative and Vice Chair of the Collier County Metropolitan Planning Organization, which is responsible for long-term highway and infrastructure planning for our county. Before moving to Florida, Greg served as Chairman of the Board for the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross. He helped deliver vital emergency services amidst catastrophic flooding and some of the most destructive tornadoes in the region’s history. He also served on the Boards of Catholic Charities and Eureka College. He attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame. As a veteran, Greg was awarded an honorable medical discharge from the U.S. Naval Academy. 

Greg, who is married to his wife Margo and enjoys his role as father of 9, stepfather of two, and grandfather of 10,  is also a parishioner at San Marco Catholic Church.
