Update from the Campaign Trail

My Fellow Floridians,

It is hard to believe that February is here! The first month of 2024 flew by. Thank you for following along on this journey with me. We are staying busy out on the campaign trail, and I am excited about the progress we will make over the next several months. Your continued support means so much to me. I look forward to representing you and your family in the Florida House!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is a specific issue you would like me to address in the Florida Legislature. It would be an honor to make your voice heard in Tallahassee.

Press Conference in Naples

I had the opportunity to hear from Governor Ron DeSantis and House Speaker Paul Renner at a press conference in Naples. The governor spoke on an initiative our legislature will enact with the support of Senate President Passidomo, House Speaker Renner, Rep. Bob Rommel, and MHPC founder Tarren Bragdon. Florida wants to hold Washington accountable by ratifying four amendments to our federal Constitution. Gov. DeSantis highlighted that these amendments have broad, bipartisan public support and would go a long way to change the incentives that make D.C. a perpetual debt-creation machine.

The amendments would:

  1. Impose term limits in Congress

  2. Require a balanced federal budget

  3. Line item veto (giving the president the authority to strike individual spending items without vetoing an entire omnibus spending bill)

  4. Congress may not impose any law upon citizens that it does not impose on itself

These are four great proposals! I hope Floridians join together to support this kind of accountability in our federal government.

Illinois-Florida Club Breakfast

I had a chance to hear Mollie Hemingway speak over the weekend at the Illinois-Florida Club Breakfast at the Royal Poinciana Golf Club. Ms. Hemingway is the editor and chief of the Federalist and a Fox News contributor. Her talk focused on how to defeat the censorship-industrial complex, which is currently the greatest threat to our democracy in this country. One of the biggest takeaways from her talk was how Elon Musk intends to save the world by protecting and promoting free speech globally on X. He is fighting back to make sure dissenting views are no longer suppressed by the big tech oligarchs.

State News!

Earlier this week, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida won the case against Disney. U.S. District Court Judge Allen Winsor dismissed the federal case Disney brought against Gov. DeSantis. This brings an end to Disney's attempts to control its own special government and receive benefits not available to other businesses throughout the state. Judge Winsor made the right call! I am glad that a just and sound ruling was made on the issues, which is something that has become hard to come by. Read more about the decision here!

Border Security

Today, I want to talk about an issue that is making headlines across our country. The crisis at the southern border has reached a new level of urgency, especially now with the U.S. Supreme Court granting the Biden administration permission to allow federal Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire installed by Texas. The states are being forced to take matters into their own hands. In the Florida House, I will fight for more funding for our illegal immigration task forces and push for more deportations of criminals. I also believe it to be appropriate for the Florida Legislature to file suit against the federal government for the expenses associated with housing illegal alien repeat offenders in our jails and prisons.

Thank you for taking the time to read this weekly update. I feel so blessed to have such strong support in the community. I cannot wait to see what is in store for my campaign in 2024!

Have a great week ahead!
